Morning everyone,
Today’s safety refresher is around ladder safety and working at heights.
We use ladders constantly throughout the store for stock access, merchandising, and storage, so it’s important we don’t get too comfortable and rush things.
A few reminders:
• Always use the correct ladder for the task
• Make sure ladders are fully opened and stable before climbing
• Don’t stand on the top step unless the ladder is designed for it
• Keep three points of contact where possible
• Don’t overreach — climb down and reposition instead
• If moving bulky or awkward stock, ask for help rather than trying to balance it while on a ladder
Example:
If a product is just slightly out of reach, don’t try leaning sideways to grab it quickly. Climb down, move the ladder properly, and then continue.
Please also make sure ladders are returned properly after use and not left blocking walkways or emergency exits.
TASK- do store tour with where the ladders and safety steps are.
Falls are one of the most common workplace injuries, and they usually happen during quick jobs people think will “only take a second”.
If anyone has noticed damaged ladders or unsafe setups lately, let management know today,
TASK- show everyone where the tag out tags are.
