Help identify faults or damage before the forklift is used, reducing the risk of injury, equipment damage and unplanned downtime.
A Forklift Pre-Start Inspection must be completed before the forklift is operated for the first time each day.
If the forklift is not used, no inspection is required.
Procedure
- Complete the Forklift Pre-Start Inspection Checklist before operating the forklift, it should be under the seat.
- Check all items listed in the inspection book.
- If the forklift is safe to operate, sign and date the inspection.
- If a fault or defect is identified:
- Do not use the forklift if it is unsafe.
- Report the fault to management immediately.
- Arrange repairs before returning the forklift to service where required.
Records
Completed Forklift Pre-Start Inspection Checklists are retained as part of Karratha Adventure Sports' WHS records.
Forklift Pre-Start Inspection Book should be with the forklift under the seat.
