About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fishing Manager to lead our fishing department at Karratha Adventure Sports β one of the largest fishing and outdoor retail stores in regional Western Australia.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Youβll take ownership of the departmentβs performance, from sales and stock management through to team leadership and customer experience.
Youβll be the go-to expert for fishing in the Pilbara β helping customers gear up for everything from land-based sessions to serious offshore trips.
This is not a small shop role. Itβs an opportunity to take full ownership of a major department within a well-established and growing business.
About the Team & Opportunity
This role has been created as part of the continued growth of Karratha Adventure Sports.
As the business expands, we are strengthening our leadership structure to ensure each department operates at a high standard and delivers a consistent customer experience.
Youβll work alongside our leadership team across camping, dive & sports, and store operations, helping lead a team of approximately 25 staff, with up to 11 team members rostered on any given day.
With over 1300mΒ² of retail space across two levels, this is a dynamic retail environment where strong leadership, organisation, and initiative are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the fishing departmentβs performance, including sales, stock, and presentation
- Lead from the front on the shop floor, delivering strong customer service and product knowledge
- Manage, support, and guide team members to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard
- Provide expert advice across land-based, estuary, boat, and offshore fishing
- Build strong relationships with customers and the local fishing community
- Drive sales through engagement, upselling, promotions, and in-store activity
- Manage stock ordering, replenishment, and inventory control
- Identify best sellers, gaps, and slow-moving stock
- Maintain a clean, organised, and well-presented department with accurate pricing and signage
- Stay up to date with products, techniques, and industry trends
- Work closely with suppliers and brand representatives
- Contribute to in-store events, product demonstrations, and content ideas
About You
- Strong fishing knowledge (local Pilbara knowledge highly regarded)
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Confident leading a team, delegating tasks, and holding people accountable
- Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage stock and priorities
- Strong communication skills with a team-first attitude
- Customer-focused, with a genuine passion for helping people
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment

Remuneration & Benefits
Remuneration & Benefits
- Full-time hourly rate: $35β$45 per hour, based on experience, capability, and overall package requirements
- Weekend penalties, leave loading, and superannuation apply
- Subsidised company housing available (optional):
- Approx. $420 per week (current market rate approx. $1,000 per week)
- Utilities not included
- Candidates not requiring housing may be offered a higher hourly rate within the advertised range
- Remuneration and housing package will be reviewed based on performance and tenure
